Participators are invited to become part of the festival by interpreting what “Culture House”, or better said what a home for culture in our region, means to them. Or what shape it could take in the future. With this in mind, we will take photos during the festival week. After five days participators will meet again with Klaus Leo Richter and look at the results. Together we will discuss the pictures and create a selection. During the closing weekend, the photographs will become part of the festival and be projected onto the culture house of Kriaunos.

Roses – Play, Memory, Creation

When: July 16 from 17.30 to 18.30

Where: Kriaunos Culture House

Language: Lithuanian

We invite teenagers (12+) and their parents to join a creative workshop led by jewelry artist and interdisciplinary creator Karina Kazlauskaitė.
During the workshop, the artist will present her jewelry series Roses, where elements of play, memory, and improvisation become the foundation for contemporary jewelry.

Inspired by a childhood game of twisting colorful electrical wires into rings – once popular across post-Soviet countries – Karina invites participants not only to hear the story behind this practice, but also to create their own roses: a small yet multilayered object.

Participants will use colorful internet cables and have the chance to experiment with other materials as well.

This is an opportunity to get acquainted with conceptual jewelry art and experience creativity through play.

*Registration required. Limited spots available.

*For participants aged 12 and up

Visual Compass: Understanding online radicalization

When: July 17 from 18.30 to 20.00

Where: Kriaunos Culture House

Language: English/Lithuanian

The workshop explores the radicalizing potential of images in the digital realm, delving into questions about the ethical use of visuals in the seemingly democratic online landscape. In particular, we look at the role of humor in spreading the alt-right ideology online. While humor is an element integral to social media, it is also often used to silence, discriminate or otherwise express violence, particularly against historically marginalized groups. The workshop addresses the challenges faced by digital platforms in recognizing the harms derived from humor, especially due to its ambiguous nature.

*Registration required. Limited spots available.

*For participants aged 15 and up
